Making Every Beat Count – Celebrating Heart Month with British Heart Foundation
11/02/2026
Together this February with our valued partners, British Heart Foundation (BHF), we’re highlighting the importance of heart health and the simple steps we can each take to care for our own.
Through this blog post, we’ll not only show you how you can help support British Heart Foundation’s wonderful cause, but also guide you to a selection of trusted BHF resources to help you understand your heart health, assess your risk, and make informed choices for your wellbeing.
What is Hearth Month?
February isn’t just about Valentine’s Day, it’s also a time to show a little extra love and well-deserved care to your heart. Heart disease remains one of the leading causes of illness worldwide, and Heart Month exists to fuel conversations, share knowledge, and inspire healthier habits that support our long-term wellbeing.
Why is it important to look after your heart?
Looking after your heart is crucial – it’s the most important organ in our body, after all. For each and every one of us, our hearts connect to how we feel, the love we share, and allow us to express joy and navigate pain. When taking steps small and large to ensure your heart is healthy and cared for, you’re investing in your personal wellbeing and energy, as well as your ability to live and love for longer. If you’d like to find out more about how the heart works and ways to protect your heart health, you can read more from British Heart Foundation.
What are the little steps you can take to maintain a healthy heart?
There are lots of small changes you can start making today to support a healthy heart. Our friends at British Heart Foundation highlight several lifestyle swaps that can help protect your heart, including:
Move more
Cut back on salt
Reduce sugar intake
Watch saturated fat intake
Be mindful of portion sizes
Cut down rather than cut out
Plan your meals
Drink less alcohol
Stop smoking
Find ways to help with stress
Maintain a healthy weight
It’s important to note that you should give yourself time to make these changes, implementing them into your lifestyle gradually – you might not see a difference overnight, but you’ll likely soon notice that you are sleeping better and feeling more energised. British Heart Foundation’s website offers great guidance to support these changes, from helpful meal plans to simple daily walks.

How does Bisley support British Heart Foundation and how can you help too?
We at Bisley are so proud to support this wonderful charity through the donation of our furniture pieces to be sold in their shops to help them fund lifesaving research. It’s a simple idea with a powerful impact that gives furniture the chance to do even more good. And the best part? You can get involved too.
Through BHS, you can arrange a free collection of your pre-loved furniture, whether it’s Bisley or not. These pre-loved pieces will then be donated to their stores around the country and sold on, giving your pieces a second life and turning each sale into a meaningful support for vital research. If you’d like to learn more about how the process works, you can find full details on their website.
Looking after your heart doesn’t have to mean making big, overwhelming changes all at once. As Heart Month reminds us, it’s the small, consistent steps that really add up over time and help you to become healthier. With organisations like British Heart Foundation and the NHS, you’re not on this journey alone. Whether it’s accessing practical resources, expert advice, or everyday inspiration, help is always available.
